For the Ride of Your Life:

"It may well be that there is no human urge more fundamental than that of making a mark"-

In the words of Chuck Close: "You Just Have to Show Up

"I would like to make something that is real in itself," [Arthur Dove] once wrote, "that does not remind anyone of any other thing, and that does not have to be explained like the letter A, for instance."

“Art is never an end in itself; it is only an instrument for tracing the lines of lives.”

—Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari (qtd. in West)

Ride #2

Second ticket purchased and cashed in!

Just met with Mentor Annette Lemieux this weekend at her new studio.
I was the first to put push pins in those new milky white walls!

What a straight-shooter! Not afraid to refer to some of my works as 'drama queen', 'drama queen" drama queen', yet still very sensitive to the scope of the project. Great advice on keeping my perspective regarding my goals in the MFA program at bay and reassuring me about my intent to challenge my growth as an artist, regardless of the outcome.

I left on the upside of the loop, hanging with my hair flying in the wind and hands up like Superman!

What a ride this is going to be

Peace
